METRONIDAZOLE TABLET 500MG

BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE:
* Inform your Doctor or Pharmacist if you are allergic to any prescription or
non-prescription medicine; taking other medicines or have other medical
problems; pregnant planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
* Check with your Doctor Pharmacists or Nurse if information in this
leaflet causes you special concern or if you want additional information
about your medicine and its use.
COMMON USE FOR THIS MEDICINE:
1- For the treatment of TRICHOMONIASIS
2- For the eradication of H. PYLORI INFECTION (HELICOBACTER PYLORI) in
combination with other agents.
3- For the treatment of ACUTE INTESTINAL AMEBIASIS (AMEBIC DYSENTERY)
4- For the treatment of AMEBIC LIVER ABSCESS
It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor
HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE:
Use this medicine exactly as directed on the label unless instructed
differently by your doctor
* Take this medicine WITH food a meal or a snack. Do not take on an empty
stomach.
* To help clear up your infection completely FINISH COURSE OF THERAPY even
if your condition has improved.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU MISS A DOSE:
Take when remembered unless time for next dose. No double doses.
HOW TO STORE THIS MEDICINE:
Keep in original closed container in a dark cool and dry place away from
children. Discard unneeded medicine.
OTHER SIDE EFFECTS:
Decreased appetite; Vomiting; Skin rash; Headache; Dizziness; Diarrhea;
Jerkings of face trunk or extremities; Numbness or tingling in hands and
feet; Metallic taste; Flushing nausea and vomiting; Feeling uncoordinated;
Dry mouth; Fever; Hot sensation and redness of face; Nasal congestion; Severe
skin itching with patches; Urine discoloration; Vaginal fungal infections;
Nausea.
If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome check with your
doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE CALL YOUR DOCTOR
IMMEDIATELY.
PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS:
* There are no adequate or well-controlled safety studies in pregnant women.
NOTIFY YOUR DOCTOR IF PREGNANT or intend to become pregnant.
* DO NOT DRINK alcoholic beverages or take alcohol-containing preparations
while being treated with this medicine.
* During treatment for TRICHOMONIASIS male partner should wear condom to
avoid reinfection. It is advisable to treat sexual partners even
asymptomatic.
