MEFLOQUINE HCL TABLET 250MG

"BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE:
* Inform your Doctor or Pharmacist if you are allergic to any prescription or
non-prescription medicine; taking other medicines or have other medical
problems; pregnant planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
* Check with your Doctor Pharmacists or Nurse if information in this
leaflet causes you special concern or if you want additional information
about your medicine and its use.
* Inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions : DEPRESSION;
SEIZURES; HEART CONDITION or HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE; LIVER PROBLEMS.
COMMON USE FOR THIS MEDICINE:
1- For the prevention of MALARIA
2- mild to moderate MALARIA caused by susceptible strains.
HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE:
Use this medicine exactly as directed on the label unless instructed
differently by your doctor
* Patient should read specific ""PATIENT INFORMATION"" provided with this
medicine before starting treatment and each time their prescription is
renewed.
* Take this medicine WITH food a meal or a snack. Do not take on an empty
stomach.
* This medicine should be taken WITH a full glass of water (6-8oz).
* Start prophylactic treatment 2 weeks before travel to MALARIOUS areas and
continue for 4 additional weeks after return.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU MISS A DOSE:
Take when remembered unless time for next dose. No double doses.
HOW TO STORE THIS MEDICINE:
Keep in original closed container in a dark cool and dry place away from
children. Discard unneeded medicine.
STOP TAKING THIS MEDICINE AND GET EMERGENCY HELP IMMEDIATELY IF ANY OF THE
FOLLOWING OCCURS (SEE SYMPTOMS BELOW):
Shortness of breath fast or irregular breathing fever joint pain fast
pulse lightheadedness or fainting swelling of face hives & itching.
CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:
Anxiety; Depression; Jerkings of face trunk or extremities; Restlessness;
Hallucinations; Confusion; Visual disturbances; Ringing in ears; Suicidal
tendency.
OTHER SIDE EFFECTS:
Nausea; Vomiting; Stomach discomfort or pain; Diarrhea; Dizziness; Headache;
Difficulty falling asleep; Feeling of general discomfort; Muscle weakness;
Decreased appetite; Memory difficulty.
If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome check with your
doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE CALL YOUR DOCTOR
IMMEDIATELY.
PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS:
* STOP TAKING MEDICINE & GET EMERGENCY HELP IMMEDIATELY IF A
HYPERSENSITIVITY OR ANAPHYLACTIC REACTION occurs: (see symptoms below):-
* shortness of breath fast or irregular breathing fever joint pain fast
pulse lightheadedness or fainting swelling of face hives & itching.
* Safety of use during pregnancy has not been established. This medicine
SHOULD NOT BE USED DURING PREGNANCY unless benefit justifies potential risk
to the fetus. CALL YOUR DOCTOR.
* Watch for signs of adverse CARDIOVASCULAR effects (eg palpitation chest
pain rapid heart rate tremor or nervousness). Inform doctor immediately.
* This medicine may cause drowsiness dizziness or blurred vision. DO NOT
drive or operate machines until yo"
