BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE:
* Inform your Doctor or Pharmacist if you are allergic to any prescription or
non-prescription medicine; taking other medicines or have other medical
problems; pregnant planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
* Check with your Doctor Pharmacists or Nurse if information in this
leaflet causes you special concern or if you want additional information
about your medicine and its use.
* Inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions : LIVER PROBLEMS;
HEART CONDITION.
COMMON USES FOR THIS MEDICINE:
1- For the management of type 2 DIABETES MELLITUS as an adjunct to diet and
exercise in combination with a sulfonylurea.
2- For the management of type 2 DIABETES MELLITUS monotherapy as an adjunct
to diet or in combination with a sulfonylurea metformin or insulin.
HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE:
Use this medicine exactly as directed on the label unless instructed
differently by your doctor
* This medicine can be taken with or without food REGARDLESS of meal times.
If stomach upset occurs take with food.
* Take medication at the same time each day.
* A reduced-calorie DIET and increased physical activity are usually part of
the treatment regimen. Follow prescribed diet and exercise programs.
* Use this medicine for the full prescribed treatment period.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU MISS A DOSE:
Take when remembered unless time for next dose. No double doses.
HOW TO STORE THIS MEDICINE:
Keep in original closed container in a dark cool and dry place away from
children. Discard unneeded medicine.
CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:
Swelling of feet or lower legs; Unusual tiredness or weakness; Difficulty
breathing; Yellowing of eyes or skin; Weight gain.
OTHER SIDE EFFECTS:
Headache; Back pain.
If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome check with your
doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE CALL YOUR DOCTOR
IMMEDIATELY.
PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS:
* Safety of use during pregnancy has not been established. This medicine
SHOULD NOT BE USED DURING PREGNANCY unless benefit justifies potential risk
to the fetus. CALL YOUR DOCTOR.
* Self-monitor blood glucose. Test urine for glucose and ketones as
prescribed. Have glycosylated hemoglobin tested regularly.
* Notify doctor of any signs suggesting LIVER problems (eg unusual fatigue
loss of appetite nausea vomiting yellowing of eyes dark urine).
* Because of INTERACTIONS report the use of any other prescription or
nonprescription medicines including natural/herbal remedies to your doctor.
* The results of some MEDICAL or LAB tests may be affected by this medicine.
Inform the doctor in charge that you are taking this medicine.
* Patients should wear identification tags (Medic-Alert) to alert medical
personnel in case of an emergency to your condition or drugs youre taking.
* Strict adherence to personal hygiene avoidance of infection & foot care
are essential. See your dentist twice a year & an ophthalmologist regularly.
