BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE:
* Inform your Doctor or Pharmacist if you are allergic to any prescription or
non-prescription medicine; taking other medicines or have other medical
problems; pregnant planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
* Check with your Doctor Pharmacists or Nurse if information in this
leaflet causes you special concern or if you want additional information
about your medicine and its use.
* Inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions : KIDNEY DISEASE;
THROAT (ESOPHAGUS) PROBLEMS; REFLUX (REGURGITATION); HEART CONDITION or HIGH
BLOOD PRESSURE; VISUAL PROBLEMS; If you are PREGNANT; HISTORY OF
NEPHROLITHIASIS (KIDNEY STONES).
COMMON USE FOR THIS MEDICINE:
1- For the treatment and prevention of OSTEOPOROSIS in postmenopausal women.
2- For the treatment and prevention of glucocorticoid-induced OSTEOPOROSIS
3- For the treatment of PAGETS DISEASE OF BONE
HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE:
Use this medicine exactly as directed on the label unless instructed
differently by your doctor
* Take with water at least 30 minutes before the first food beverage or
medication of the day.
* DO NOT lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking dose.
* This medicine should be taken WITH a full glass of water (6-8oz).
* Take calcium and vitamin D supplements if dietary intake is inadequate
unless otherwise instructed by your physician.
* DO NOT take milk dairy products ANTACIDS Calcium Magnesium or
Aluminum products within 2 hours of taking this medicine.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU MISS A DOSE:
Take weekly dose on the morning after you remember & return to original
schedule. Do not take 2 tablets on the same day.
HOW TO STORE THIS MEDICINE:
Store at controlled room temperature 20? to 25?C (68? to 77?F). DO NOT
FREEZE. Discard unused medicine
CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:
Hypersensitivity reactions; Swelling of the extremities; Skin rash.
OTHER SIDE EFFECTS:
Joint pain; Diarrhea; Headache; Stomach discomfort or pain; Nausea;
Constipation; Dizziness; Muscle weakness; Belching; Leg pain / cramps;
Ringing in ears; Muscle pain.
If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome check with your
doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE CALL YOUR DOCTOR
IMMEDIATELY.
PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS:
* Safety of use during pregnancy has not been established. This medicine
SHOULD NOT BE USED DURING PREGNANCY unless benefit justifies potential risk
to the fetus. CALL YOUR DOCTOR.
* Discontinue use and notify doctor at the first sign of a skin rash or other
allergic reaction.
* Avoid taking over-the-counter (non-prescription) drugs without asking your
doctor or pharmacist.
* Smoking or drinking alcohol may worsen your condition.
* Regular follow-up visits to your OPHTHALMOLOGIST (eye doctor) are necessary
to monitor visual problems.
* Notify doctor if you are pregnant if pregnancy is suspected or if you
intend to become pregnant.
* It is not known if this drug is excreted in human milk. Because of the
potential for serious harm DO NOT breast feed.
